Spike's Cabin, Upper Twin Lake

I arrived in the cabin this afternoon, took a quick paddle in the kayak—one must avail oneself to a calm lake when one has the chance—met a hiker and her guide camping nearby, and made a list of the things the cabin requires to make life more livable out here.
1. 2 outstanding bottles of Château Léoville Poyferré ’61
2. Some sort of medieval torture device for small rodents.


Oops strike that second one; It would appear that the cabin is already adorned with just such a device designed to teach small rodents the virtues of temperance and punish their mousy avarice in the face of peanut butter. It is empty at the moment, but I imagine when carrying out its planned perfidies it is quite the little Tower of London for the unlucky vole. Granted, the Tower of London was probably a more pleasant place for rodents than your average Thomas Moore or Queen Mary, so my metaphor is somewhat contrived.

Well, that’s my list, but who would disagree?
