Lower Twin Lake at Sunset | Lake Clark National Park, Alaska

I've finally uploaded enough photographs to the Lake Clark National Park gallery for it to be a legitimate gallery, complete with link in the portfolio page. So far the gallery contains fifteen images and it's a little light on photos from the coast, but there will be more as time allows. Lake Clark is one of the most extraordinary places in the country. It's often described as a microcosm of Alaska because it has almost everything one could ask for from the state—wildlife (lots of bears), glaciers, crystalline lakes, wild rivers, volcanos—all in one relatively small space. For a photographer this place is a treasure of gorgeous areas which, because of difficulty in getting there, rarely suffer the attention of a camera. If you are interested in some thoughts on the German Romantic philosophy/aesthetics (really, who isn't?) and hiking in the area, you might enjoy The Apocrypha of the Wild—Exploring the Sublime in Lake Clark National Park or for something lighter, selected journal postings from my time there.
